Renovation of a book lover's home opens it up to sunlight and colors of the surrounding gardens. A dark living room is reborn with a deep new window seat, a palette of warm pinks and handsome camels, and a considered mix of patterns and eras. Arts & Crafts pioneer William Morris' iconic acanthus leaf pattern is scaled up and recolored on the ceiling.
Inspired by an English conservatory, the kitchen's dark tiled range wall was replaced by casement windows and an Edwardian-style range hood commissioned in brass. The adjacent breakfast room now doubles as a study with its new built-in desk for two.
